Position Overview

Community Solutions is a nonprofit innovation partner to communities around the world. We leverage engaging, innovative problem solving tools like design thinking and quality improvement to help communities end homelessness and the conditions that create it. The Built for Zero (BfZ) team works with over 100 communities across the US and around the world to build a movement to end homelessness.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized individual to join the Strategy and Evaluation Team on the energetic, collaborative Built for Zero team at Community Solutions. This position reports to the Analytics and Measurement Strategy Lead and will be responsible for developing and maintaining Built for Zero’s data analysis tools, visualizations, and data entry systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop intuitive, self-service tools that integrate through all phases of our data pipeline (data entry, warehouse, Salesforce, Tableau), to help stakeholders analyze data from BfZ communities, across teams, and external sources.
  • Support continuous improvement and monitoring of these systems
  • Develop technical solutions to simplify data entry processes and keep stakeholders continually informed
  • Develop an understanding of homelessness as a complex, fluid data story in order to illustrate this data with innovative technical solutions
  • Develop and implement processes to train and engage BfZ staff, to ensure the successful adoption of new tools
  • Integrate external data sources to inform our team about BfZ communities .
  • Continually monitor and enhance the quality of data within our systems.

  • A passion for racial equity that informs all analysis and translates to concrete, data-informed recommendations on how we can further advance equity in all work
  • Ensure our systems are ready to go to scale. Our work is constantly growing, so it’s crucial that we build with an eye towards supporting more communities and initiatives with identifying and disseminating the information they need to inform their work.

Professional Experience and Qualifications

  • Five to seven years experience in a professional work setting
  • 3+ years experience working in data analysis and visualization, empowering non-technical users with intuitive tools for intuitive processing and analyzing of data
  • 2+ year experience working with Javascript or any object oriented language to develop visualizations and analytics
  • 1+ year experience working in a CRM, overseeing efficiency and accuracy of data migration and data entry, developing calculations, visualizations, automations
  • Experience translating complex, fluid business processes into innovative, yet simple, interfaces
  • Experience developing Salesforce automations, flows, customizations, applications, extensions and integrations is a plus
  • Experience with Tableau is a plus

Additional Skills

  1. Experience Integrating APIs and/or external datasets is a plus
  2. Experience with mapping is a plus
  3. Knowledge of R / Python / SQL is a plus
  4. Familiarity with homeless services is a plus
  5. At least five years of previous work experience
  6. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

Salary

The salary range for this position is $76,634 - $95,793, depending on experience, proficiency and qualifications.

Work Environment

This position can be located anywhere in the U.S. and provides for the flexibility to work from a remote location without the standard support available at an office if desired. The Built for Zero team has offices in Los Angeles and New York.

Travel Requirements

Travel will be required to attend semi-annual team retreats, community site visits, and other on-site trainings or convenings. Most travel is to major cities around the US, including current Built for Zero communities.
